Answers to some Frequently (and not-so-frequently) Asked Questions
Q: Where does the band's name come from?
A: Paul says it best:
"That came from when Duncan (guitar) saw a documentary about Havana, Cuba on the TV. There were a lot of old people sitting around playing dominoes calmly and in the background there was a park with a sign on it, and it was called Maximo Park, which was named after the famous revolutionary Maximo Gomez. At that time, Duncan was in a band that suffered from a clash of egos, so when this one was formed, we thought the name Maximo Park perfectly reflected a group which had very equal input. We ARE that group of men playing dominoes!"
